Questions
What is Maison Safa?
The global house of Safa: a private, members-only community for people who believe money should be ethical, real and fair, and the circle around Safa Global. Members meet at dinners, salons, campus talks and conferences, learn ethical and Islamic finance together, use Maison Credits from day one, and, as Citizens, help shape Maison and the group through the Maison Assembly.
Who is it for?
Founders, operators, professionals, scholars, students and families who care how money is made and used. We look at what you have done, what you are curious about and what you would bring to the table. We never fill a room with people who all do the same thing.
How do Maison Credits work?
Residents and Citizens receive 500 credits at the start of every membership year: half of a Resident’s fee, and all of a Citizen’s house dues, come back to spend. Every member also earns bonus credits for bringing people in, hosting and learning. 1 credit = €1 on the Maison price list. Spend them on nights and work days (with partners now, in Maison spaces as they open), the Maison edit, seats at dinners and conferences, and courses: ask from your account and we confirm. Credits are valid for the membership year and do not roll over; they have no cash value, are not refundable, cannot be sold or transferred for money, and end with the membership.
What is the difference between Resident and Citizen?
Like renting and owning. A Resident pays €1,000 each year, receives 500 credits and enjoys the house, with Excellence University included while a Resident. A Citizen holds a lifetime seat, pays only €500 in house dues each year and receives them back in full as 500 credits, keeps Excellence University for life, brings guests and votes in the Maison Assembly.
What do I get at Excellence University?
Members get 15% off everything, bespoke programs included. Residents have Excellence University included (every course and program except bespoke ones) while they are Residents; Citizens have it included for life. Residents and Citizens get 50% off bespoke programs. Learning is education, never investment advice.
How do the 1,000 seats work?
Residents and Citizens together never pass 1,000. As Citizenships are taken, fewer seats remain for Residents. A Resident is never displaced during their year, and renewing Residents keep their seat; when the house is full, new applicants join a waitlist. Members are unlimited.
What does the Maison Assembly decide?
Two things. First, what binds Maison: the house rules, where Maison opens next, perks, the gathering city and the causes we support. Residents and Citizens vote on these, and a Citizen’s vote counts twice, because a Citizen’s seat is for life. Second, advice to Safa Global Capital, Safa Global Ventures and the Safa Global Foundation on values, ethics and impact: here only Citizens vote, one Citizen one vote, and each company answers publicly. No vote is ever weighted by any investment a member holds. It never votes on any investment, issuance, price or allocation.
Where are the spaces, and how will stays work?
They open in stages, first in the six cities of the first year (Mexico City, Malta, Guangzhou, Istanbul, Doha and Madrid), with retreats to follow, and Maison adds more every year. Each space has one of three profiles: to rest, to work or to relax. Until then, credits are used for nights and work days with partners. The spaces also serve Safa Global’s own work and close for private events, so bookings depend on availability; a calendar of closed days is shared each month. No space is bookable yet.
Do I need to be Muslim to join?
No. Maison is for anyone who shares its values: ethical money, real assets, fair dealing and long horizons. Members come from every background and every level of practice.
Is Maison an investment?
No. Membership pays for belonging, learning, places and a voice, and nothing in it is an investment. STAC and the Sukuk Programme are regulated investments offered separately by Safa Global Capital, only where lawful and only to eligible investors; membership gives no priority and no rights in them, and our learning is education, never investment advice.
Can membership be given by invitation?
Yes. Maison invites faculty, scholars, partners, community leaders and others at its own discretion. An invitation is never promised, never tied to an investment and never part of any offer.
How do I join?
Request membership, or ask a member to put you forward. A person reads every request and replies by email. Payment for Resident or Citizen is requested only after you are accepted.
I was a member of the Safa Global Society. What changes?
The Society is now Maison Safa. Your membership continues at the same price, and nothing changes in your billing today. We will write to you about your place in Maison and your credits.
